Re: 06-W SAE slabbed
Tulving will sell you 50 of these, graded by PCGS, for $37.00 each. I'm sure if you wanted to buy one, or a couple, he would still sell them way cheaper than $99.00! PCGS is the #1 grading service. Always get PCGS coins if possible. NGC is okay, but much less conservative of a grading service. Forget the rest of the grading services, they are a joke!
6) PCGS PR69DCAM 2006-W FIRST STRIKE PROOF SILVER EAGLES FOR $37 EACH!! 50 COIN MINIMUM. Free Overnite Shipping And Insurance. |

Ok, so what coin are you talking about? Are you talking about the 06-W slabbed Uncirculated or Proof? The 06-W Uncirculated slabbed PCGS MS-69 is selling for less than $100 on ebay (this is also the highest PCGS will grade for this particular coin). The 06-W Proof slabbed PCGS MS-69 sells for around $50, but much higher if it has the correct labels and is MS-70. NGC grades upto a perfect 70 for both coins, but has many different labels, some of which fetch more money than others. The coin you have pictured and linked is a 2005 proof. |

Re: 06-W SAE slabbed
I have one in the Blue mint box. The Proof type--Shiney Shiney. How much would one go for like it is? Should I take it to PCGS?
Thanks E-A |
Re: 06-W SAE slabbed
I wouldn't bother having your coin graded/slabbed. Cheaper just to buy one that is already done. The only way it would be worth it, is if you were absolutely sure that it will grade MS-70, or proof-70. Having a single coin graded will probably cost you $40.00 or so, through a dealer. Tulving sells the finished product for less than that!

Re: 06-W SAE slabbed
Now I want you guys to see something else I dug up netsearching this item.
Over at this forum somebody found a deal at littleton (yes overpriced coin ad littleton) that was selling these for $28 yes $28 BU not proof, and not slabbed, which evidently was less than the Mint sales price. hundreds of them were sold at this "mistake" pricing before they upped it to $70 per. what I would suggest is that some of you deal-fanatics look for submarket prices by scanning these other coin forums. then drag em back here fast and share em with this crowd. http://www.cointalk.org/showthread.php?t=20614 i see some familiar screen names over there, you guys let us know if you see deals por favor! |

Ok, the 06-W MS69-70 is different than the 06-W PR69-70. The MS is about twice as rare as the PR (480k total versus almost 1million total). Also, PCGS MS-69 is the max, whereas PCGS PR-70 and NGC MS-70 and NGC PR-70 are the max. The unslabbed uncirculated coins (the ones that will grade as MS-69-70) sell for $65-$75 on ebay. The unslabbed proofs sell for $35-$50, depending on what set (or solitary coin) they came from. So, when you say "i'm talkin bout the 06-w sae in ms or proof graded by ngc or pcgs", it really means you're talking about two different coins with two different max ratings, depending on which company you want to go with. |
Re: 06-W SAE slabbed
A lot of people are confused as to how many different sets and solitary coins were released. I'll try and clear that up.
1.) There was the normal uncirculated SAE, without a mint mark - about 10 million+. These were the most common of the 2006 SAEs and sell for spot + $1.50 or so. 2.) There was the reverse proof with the P mint mark. This was only released in the 3 coin set and limited to 250k total. These were the most rare of the 2006 SAEs and sell for anywhere between $200-$2500+, depending on if they are slabbed or not and what grade they received from either PCGS or NGC (the two biggest grading companies). An unslabbed coin goes for ~$200 on ebay and a PCGS PR-70 (reverse) goes for $2500 on apmex (NGC is about half that). 3.) There is the normal proof, with the W mint mark. These were released as solitary coins and in the 3 coin 20th Anniversary set. There were 250k in the latter and ~700k released as individual coins. These are the second most common coins and depending on if they are slabbed or not and which company slabbed them and what grade they received (and what set they are from), go for $35-$100+. 4.) Then finally there is the uncirculated SAE with the W mint mark. These were released in the 3 coin anniversary set, as individual coins and in a combined set with 1 GAE. There were 250k, ~210k and ~20k of each total minted (grand total ~480k). These are relatively stable, going for between $65-$80 on ebay, no matter if they are slabbed or what company slabbed them or what grade they received (and what set they are from). They are the next rarest of the 2006 SAEs, after the reverse proof. I just remembered that there were some "First Strike" coins released from PCGS in the very beginning and with this label, the price basically doubles. I hope this helps! |

Re: 06-W SAE slabbed
I bought 30 of the 06-w uncirculated ones... 20 raw in mint packaging and 10 in PCGS MS69, all for an average price of about $70 each. I expect these to go for double that down the road a year.
They are in the PCGS registry for the regular strike issue and are by far the scarcest regular strike issue, with a mintage comparable to the 1993-1995 proof eagles which sell for much more. Even now these are a good buy and are still undiscovered by many who don't realize how low the mintage is. They are stable right now as everybody who was lucky and got one for the mint price is selling them. Once that supply is exhausted, they will quickly move up in price. The time to buy them for numismatic speculation is now, even at the $80-90 price level it's a no brainer. I also have one PCGS 69/69/69 3 coin set I got from the CU boards for $280. The reverse proofs should do quite well too, but the uncirculated ones have the best upside percentage potential right now. The cheapest way to find them on ebay is look for the NGC MS 69 auctions which include the mint packaging.. these often sell for less then ones raw in the mint packaging.. you can break them out of the slab and put them back in the mint packaging. For those who are wondering, they stopped minting them because they didn't have enough mint boxes/velvet sacks for them... they led to an unusually low mintage that likely won't be repeated. |

I just wish we didn't have to go thru the "numismatics is a waste of money" everytime we discuss a numismatic coin......... You are one of a small group that I have come to look for when discussing the numismatic areas..... *bows* |
